Marketing in the 21st Century

February 11th, 2009

The old way of marketing your business has gone by the wayside. Just like vinyl records and eight-track tapes.

The Internet, and in particular Web 2.0, has changed the playing field dramatically. But just because the technology has changed, doesn’t mean traditional marketing is dead.

Today business owners must combined the power of online marketing with the proven methods of direct response offline marketing. Relying on just one is a recipe for disaster.

Having a website optimized for lead generation is much more cost effective than traditional brick and mortar methods of the past.

An offline business owner who doesn’t have a website that’s capturing customers and prospects contact information,  is playing a costly game of chance that will backfire eventually.

Use your website to drive people into your store and use store traffic to drive prospects to your website. The two fit together like hand in glove.

Create free giveaways or strong offers and let your customers know that only those who register at your website will receive them. Instead of costly cable television ads, create a viral video and post it to You Tube and other video sites.

Put your website URL on your business cards and stationary, hold contests or drawings where customers can register online or off. The list goes on and on of ideas and  strategies you can create by combining offline and online marketing.

This is a new era before us. The world is conected like never before and information is changing hands in a blink of an eye. Don’t let your business be left behind.

If you don’t have an Internet presence, time is not on your side. We live in an exciting time and never before in the history of business has it been easier and more cost effective to get your message out to the world.

A sound offline and online marketing strategy, based on direct marketing principles, is the best way to accomplish the task.
